Luke Thompson is in his fifth year at Pennsylvania State University and is currently working on his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree with a focus in Construction Management.  Following his graduation in May, Luke will be working for Gilbane Building Company in Baltimore MD.

Luke’s previous professional experience consists of different internships from the past two summers.  In the summer of 2014, Luke worked for Buch Construction, a family owned general contracting company in Laurel Maryland.  Working with the interiors group, Luke got the chance to see multiple projects, work with all different kinds of subcontractors and learned the value of keeping close, professional relationships.  This summer, Luke worked for Gilbane Building Company on-site on the US Lacrosse Headquarters project in Sparks Glencoe, MD.  Seeing a project develop from site work through the structure was an entirely new and exciting experience for him.  Ultimately these internships further supplemented Luke’s education learned from the Penn State AE program and gave him valuable real life experience for his future professional career.

During Luke’s time at Penn State he has been apart of the Student Society of Architectural Engineering (SSAE) and the National Electrical Contractor’s Association (NECA).  Being apart of NECA, Luke even got the chance to travel to Roatàn, Honduras last year during spring break to help build solar panels for a community in need.

Outside of the classroom Luke is an active member of the Men’s Club Lacrosse team and enjoys playing intramural sports such as flag football and basketball.
